JTI Sales Up

Feb 9, 2009-Japan Tobacco International sold 452.3 billion cigarettes in 2008, 17 percent more than in 2007. Net sales excluding tax amounted to $10.65 billion, up from $9.07 billion during the previous year. Gallaher results have been incorporated as of April 2007. Sales of the company's "global flagship" brands increased 20.8 percent to 245.5 billion cigarettes. Sales of Winston grew by 13.8 percent due to robust sales in Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Spain, France, Italy and other markets.
