Key Tobacco Manufacturer in Favorable Trend of Development Source from: Tobacco China Online 02/02/2009 Jiangxi Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation - a key Chinese tobacco manufacturer in east China's Jiangxi Province - maintained a favorable trend of development in 2008, producing 50.4 billion cigarettes (1.008 million cases), up 5.22 percent year-on-year, and sold 49.555 billion cigarettes (991,100 cases) under quotas issued by the State, up 3.93 percent year-on-year.
In the year, the corporation's cigarette sales in the home province reached 35.14 billion cigarettes (702,800 cases), down 3.93 percent year-on-year. Its cigarette sales to other Chinese regions reached 14.365 billion cigarettes (287,300 cases) in the year, up 3.305 billion cigarettes (66,100 cases), or 29.85 percent, year-on-year.
While maintaining the scope of its cigarette brands, Jiangxi Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation realized relatively rapid expansion and development of its key competitive Jinsheng and Mount Lushan cigarette brands in 2008.
In the year, the output of Jinsheng reached 8.87 billion cigarettes (177,400 cases), up 26.86 percent year-on-year while its sales volume reached 8.075 billion cigarettes (161,500 cases), up 14.69 percent year-on-year. In the same year, the output of Mount Lushan reached 31.45 billion cigarettes (629,000 cases), up 1.59 billion cigarettes (31,800 cases), or 5.32 percent, year-on-year while its sales volume reached 31.04 billion cigarettes (620,800 cases), up 6.58 percent year-on-year.
Jiangxi Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation is planning to spend the next three years realizing a transition of Jinsheng into a national-level cigarette brand from a regional one, in order that the annual output of Jinsheng will have reached 15 billion cigarettes (300,000 cases) by the year 2010.
