Hongta Group, Cooperation Partners Sign Pact on Strategic Cooperation

Hongta Group in southwest China’s tobacco-producing Yunnan Province – the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer – and its three key cooperation partners signed an agreement in Yunnan on November 16 on strategic cooperation in enhancing Hongta’s scientific-technological capacity and competitiveness of its cigarette brands through the development of an innovation system. The three key cooperation partners signing the agreement with Hongta are respectively Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute in central China’s Henan Province, Huabao Deodorization Technology Development (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Yunnan Agricultural University. The innovation system will mainly be based in Hongta Group, will be focused on the development of competitive brands and will be market-oriented, according to Hongta Group. In an address delivered at the signing ceremony, Hongta Group President Li Suiming said that for decades, Hongta Group has been making efforts to strengthen cooperation with research and educational institutions both within and outside the tobacco industry, establishing stable relations of long-term cooperation with Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute, Yunnan Agricultural University, Huabao Deodorization Technology Development (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., etc. On the basis of such relations, the parties concerned have successfully cooperated with each other in basic research, contributing to enhancing Hongta’s scientific-technological research capacity and upgrading its production technology, according to Li. The signing of the agreement on strategic cooperation this time will contribute to further strengthening the basis of cooperation, extending the scope of cooperation, and promoting to a higher level the existing cooperation between them in developing technologies for lowering the content of tar and other harmful substances in cigarette products, analyzing the aromatizing ingredients in cigarettes, conducting research of fragrances and flavorings for cigarette production, developing green leaf tobacco, improving alcoholization of leaf tobacco, etc, Li said.
