Sales Increase at Star During Third Quarter

Star Scientific reported yesterday third-quarter net sales of $136,725, up from $51,603 during the same period of 2007. Gross sales for the third quarter, to the end of September, at $195,890, were up by 39.1 per cent on those of the third quarter of 2007, $140,848. Unit sales volumes were said to have increased by about 40 per cent during the third quarter, but no volume figures were given on the results press note posted on the company"s website. Star reported an operating loss of $4.3 million for the quarter compared with a $4.4 million loss during the same period of 2007.
