Regional Company Changes Cigarette Packaging Marks Source from: Fujian news 10/27/2008 Fujian Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation - the operator of the manufacturing sector of the tobacco industry in southeast China's Fujian Province - has recently started the process of changing the packaging marks of its cigarette products in compliance with the Rules for Cigarette Packaging Marks in the People's Republic of China issued by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration.
In the process, Fujian Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation will apply new warning signs, trademarks and other aspects of the cigarette packaging in accordance with the requirement of the rules.
It was reported that Fujian Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation will complete the process of changing cigarette packaging marks by December 31, 2008, and that it will apply new warning signs, new trademarks and new designs on cigarette packaging in production as of January 1, 2009.
While maintaining its original packaging designing style, Fujian Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation will, strictly in accordance with the requirement of the rules, print warning signs on both sides of the cigarette packets and cartons, which will cover a least 30 percent of the packaging, with the warning signs on the front written in Chinese and on the back in English.
Besides, each trademark design will bear either of the following two warning reminders printed both in Chinese and English - "Cigarette smoking is harmful to your health, giving up smoking as early as possible will be good to your health"; and "Cigarette smoking is harmful to your health, giving up smoking will reduce the harm to the your health". The two warning reminders will be used alternatively on an annual basis. For the time being, Fujian Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation is planning to use the first one in the beginning.
