Imperial Tobacco is to launch in the UK a new economy cigarette, JPS Silver, at the beginning of November, according to a report in Talking Retail. The JPS Silver range, which will include menthol versions, will sell at £4.21 for 20 and £2.12 for 10 in king-size formats, and for £4.25 for 20 in Superkings formats. Iain Watkins, trade communications manager, was quoted as saying, "Increasing numbers of adult smokers are moving down through the cigarette price sectors into the economy sector. "Imperial Tobacco constantly monitors the market and a lengthy research process has told us the market is now ready for the new JPS Silver range." Enditem
