Indian Tobacco Exports Surge Source from: tobaccoreporter.com Sep 30, 2008 10/07/2008 India's tobacco exports increased by 25.3 percent to more than 100 million kg during fiscal 2008-2009 till August, reports the Hindu Business Line citing the Tobacco Board.
In value terms, exports rose 64 percent to INR1.28 billion ($27.5 million). A board official attributed the surge in exports to customers' lower inventories and supply shortages in Brazil and Zimbabwe.
Leading destinations for Indian tobacco include Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and eastern Europe. Enditem
