Habanos Assesses the Damage Source from: tr.itsmyiq.com Sep 26, 2008 09/27/2008 Hurricanes Gustav and Ike destroyed up to two million pounds of Cuba's best tobacco and caused damage to the country's tobacco infrastructure that will be costly to repair, according to a Reuters report by Esteban Israel, quoting Manuel Garcia, vice president of Habanos SA.
"Undoubtedly we are going to need an important financial injection for the tobacco [industry]," he said at a recent Havana business conference.
Habanos is a joint venture between the Cuban government and Altadis, which is owned by the Imperial Tobacco Group. Enditem
