Best Sorter Goes Green Source from: worldtobacco.co.uk 08 February 2008 09/23/2008 Since its official launch during the TABEXPO Show in Paris, end of last year, the sale of BEST's TB5 high capacity belt laser sorter (up to 10 ton per hour) has taken off exceptionally well, providing tobacco processors with a highly efficient sorting solution to achieve maximum product purity (free of non-tobacco-related material also called NTRM).
After a successful installation in the Primary department of a major world-wide operating tobacco processor, the Tobaccoscan5 has now also found its way into Green Leaf processing plants, where already units have been sold to an Oriental processing group as well as an US-based Tobacco Cooperative for their threshing facility. Whereas in the past Tobaccoscan-type units were mainly sold to cigarette manufacturers, the market has now changed and responsibility to deliver pure, high-quality tobacco has shifted to Green Leaf processing.
BEST's TB5 belt laser sorter is supplied with the field proven HELIUS platform technology (from BEST's free-fall laser sorter), detecting all NTRM based on color, structure and size with up to 12 individual laser signals. Within milliseconds, powerful air guns remove any NTRM accurately and allow the good product to proceed its way in the processing line. Besides these conventional sorting methods, TB5 is able to sort based on biological characteristics. Despite the harsh conditions of tobacco processing plants, TB5 ensures maximum efficiency in any condition (humid, dusty, high temperature environment etc.) thanks to hermetically sealed optics, assuring a clean room environment for the optics and eliminating any need for calibration. TB5 is designed for easy cleaning and sanitation, reducing maintenance to a minimum and making it the ideal sorting solution for Primary and Green Leaf processing facilities all over the world.
