A court in Hamburg has ruled that Santa Fe Natural Tobacco may no longer describe its product in Germany as 'organic' because the term is misleading and constitutes unfair competition, according to an AFP report. According to a court spokeswoman, the word organic implied that such cigarettes were not harmful and thus violated national tobacco and business competition laws. Santa Fe Natural Tobacco, which is a unit of Reynolds American, says its cigarettes are made with 100 per cent organic tobacco and biodegradable paper filters, and that they comply with EU rules for organic products.
