Brazil's President Lights up Smoking Debate

Brazil's President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, believes that people should be able to smoke where they choose, according to an Agence France Presse report quoting local newspaper reports. Lula had been asked to comment on draft legislation seeking to ban smoking in enclosed public places. "Really, I am defending the idea that people be allowed to smoke anywhere they choose," Lula told the daily Agora. "The only people who smoke are those who are hooked," he added, puffing on a small cigar. Enditem
