First Davidoff Maduro Launched

Davidoff of Geneva has introduced its first maduro Davidoff, according to a report by Gregory Mottola for Cigar Aficionado. The Robusto Maduro R is said to be a dark, five inch, 52 ring gauge cigar with the traditional white Davidoff band and a secondary black band bearing the inscription 'Maduro R' in gold colored letters. Michael Herklots, the general manager of New York City's Davidoff cigar shops, was quoted as saying that the new product was not a maduro in the way that the American market knew such cigars, which were classically broadleaf and fermented in a certain way. The Maduro R was not just a Special R with a dark wrapper thrown around it, but an entirely new blend made specifically to complement the wrapper, which came from the Jalapa growing region of Nicaragua, he added.
