Senzani Case Packer Qualifies at JTI

Senzani's SBNE-J vertical case packer has passed a 40-shift qualification test at JTI's factory in Trier, Germany. JTI is a part of the Japan Tobacco Group and the world's third-largest cigarette manufacturer JTI tested the SBNE-J on the 10M case (50 cartons-5x5x2-inside the shipping case) and the 5M case (25 cartons-5x5x1-inside the shipping case). The machine was linked to an upstream production complex manufacturing 100 cartons per minute (20,000 cigarettes per minute). Due to the link to a high-speed production line, JTI specified the case packer to be complete with a carton accumulator containing 200 cartons-enough to safely cover the self-adhesive tape and the label reel replacement. The test ran from March 31 to April 29, two shifts per day. JTI's personnel quickly achieved a high degree of machine knowledge, allowing Senzani's supervisor to limit his presence to a single shift. The machine's average efficiency was more than 99.7 percent, with a target of at least 99 percent. Already, some 80 SBNE case packers are operating worldwide. Unlike the standard SBNE machine, the SBNE-J uses servo drives for the main machine movements, guaranteeing better cycle optimization and higher speeds. Enditem
