Strong Demand for Protos M-series

Hauni has sold 50 Protos-M5 and Protos-M8 cigarette makers since the machines entered serial production in 2005 and 2008 respectively. Combining innovation and reliability, the dual-rod machines can produce 5 million or 8 million cigarettes per eight-hour shift. In June, the first two Protos-M8 series machines were tested at Japan Tobacco International (JTI) in Torbali, Turkey, and St. Petersburg, Russia. According to Hauni, The machines achieved efficiency levels of 94 percent and almost 91 percent. Waste values that were significantly below targets. In April, the Protos-M5 proved it could produce top quality super slim cigarettes. During a 40 hour test at JTI in St. Petersburg, the machine reached an efficiency level of more than 96 percent at a production speed of 10,000 cigarettes per minute. The waste level was 0.9 percent.
