Ships in British waters could face a complete smoking ban next year, according to a report in The Times. The Department for Transport is considering banning smoking inside vessels within 12 miles of the British coast, which would mean that passengers traveling between Dover and Calais would be able to smoke for only 17 miles of the 29 mile crossing. William Gibbons, director of the Passenger Shipping Association, said the rules would apply to all ships, whatever their flag. Enditem
