Teen Explosives Suspect May be Charged as Adult Source from: pittsburghlive.com By The Tribune-Review Thursday, July 10, 2008 07/11/2008 Indiana County's district attorney said he's considering whether to charge a 17-year-old boy as an adult for allegedly manufacturing and detonating explosives.
"We're taking a close look at whether it would be appropriate to seek certification as an adult," prosecutor Tom Bianco said Wednesday.
The defendant was charged as a juvenile Tuesday after his arrest at a Blairsville residence.
Authorities say the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives received information that the boy was marketing the devices for sale on the Internet.
The teen began communicating with an undercover ATF agent and offered him several homemade explosive devices in exchange for "a prohibited offensive weapon," police have said.
Bianco said authorities might have stopped the teen from completing any sales.
"There's no evidence of prior sales," he said. Enditem
