Beijing Cigarette Factory Uses Environment-Friendly Material for Low-Grade Cigarette Packaging

Beijing Cigarette Factory - a subsidiary to Shanghai Tobacco Group - has attained the target of using the environment-friendly vacuum transfer aluminum plated paper as the inner liner of packaging for all low-grade cigarettes it produces, in accordance with the instruction of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) on generalizing the use of this type of paper for low-grade cigarette packaging. In March 2006, Beijing Cigarette Factory worked out its Plan for the Use of Environment-Friendly Vacuum Transfer Aluminum Plated Paper as Low-Grade Cigarette Packaging on a Trial Basis. Afterwards, it put to use the 72g/m2, the 65g/m2 and the 53g/m2 vacuum transfer aluminum plated paper as packaging in the production of low-grade cigarettes on a trial basis. Through comparison and proof, the factory eventually chose the 65g/m2 vacuum transfer aluminum plated paper as the inner liner of the packaging for all low-grade cigarettes it produces. Since mid-June 2008, Beijing Cigarette Factory has been using the 65g/m2 vacuum transfer aluminum plated paper as the inner liner of the packaging for the strong flavored Zhongnanhai and the 10mg Zhongnanhai brand cigarettes on a full scale. The move of Beijing Cigarette Factory to use the 65g/m2 vacuum transfer aluminum plated paper as low-grade cigarette packaging has not only paved the way for gradually generalizing the use of vacuum transfer aluminum plated paper as a packaging material for other specifications of tobacco products it produces in future, but has also meant a full-scale implementation of the instruction of the STMA on generalizing the use of vacuum transfer aluminum plated paper as a low-grade cigarette packaging material on a trial basis.
