Tobacco Sting Nets Citation

A tobacco sting in Fairfield on Tuesday aimed at curbing teen smoking yielded a single citation, police said Wednesday. The operation involved police cadets, all under the age of 18, attempting to buy tobacco products from businesses. Of 30 businesses targeted by the police department's youth services division, just one business sold tobacco to the minor without checking for identification, police said. All of the businesses had the required tobacco laws posted on the premises. The operation was funded by a grant from the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs committee. Enditem
