U.K. Stocks Pare Gains; Imperial Tobacco, Persimmon Shares Fall

U.K. stocks pared gains. Imperial Tobacco Group Plc and Persimmon Plc led declining shares, while Vodafone Group Plc advanced. The benchmark FTSE 100 Index added 2.7, or less than 0.1 percent, to 6,090, at 10:47 a.m. in London, having risen as much as 0.9 percent. The FTSE All-Share Index lost less than 0.1 percent and Ireland's ISEQ Index slid 0.4 percent. Imperial Tobacco, Europe's second-largest cigarette maker, declined 1.3 percent to 2,101 pence. Persimmon, the U.K.'s largest homebuilder by market value, lost 3.5 percent to 496.25 pence. Vodafone, the world's largest mobile-phone company, added 0.6 percent to 164.25 pence.
