Swedish Match Names Dahlgren New CEO

Swedish Match AB, the parent company of General Cigar Co. and one of the world's largest cigarmakers, has named its new top executive. Lars Dahlgren, 37, will assume the role of president and CEO effective June 1. Dahlgren, 37, has worked at Swedish Match since 1996. He previously served as chief financial officer and senior vice president of the company, also a leading maker of smokeless tobacco, matches, lighters and pipe tobacco. "Lars Dahlgren has done an outstanding job as CFO of Swedish Match, and has during his years with the company gained extensive experience from the tobacco industry and the company, including its markets, competitors and consumers as well as the investor community. Lars knows the challenges and opportunities facing us, which makes Lars an excellent president and CEO, taking Swedish Match forward," said chairman Conny Karlsson in a statement. Dahlgren is succeeding Sven Hindrikes, 58, who announced his upcoming retirement earlier in the year. Swedish Match also appointed Joakim Tilly, 38, as its new CFO. Enditem
