U.K. Stocks Erase Gains, Led by LSE, Imperial Tobacco, Tate Source from: By Sarah Jones May 22 (Bloomberg) 05/23/2008 U.K. stocks erased gains, led by London Stock Exchange Group Plc, Imperial Tobacco Group Plc and Tate & Lyle Plc.
The FTSE 100 Index gained 1.9, or less than 0.1 percent, to 6,200 at 11:59 a.m. in London. Earlier, the measure rose as much as 0.5 percent. The FTSE All-Share Index added 0.1 percent to 3,152.86. Ireland's ISEQ Index fell 0.1 percent to 6,143.85.
LSE, Europe's biggest market by value of listed companies, declined 4.4 percent to 1,040 pence. Imperial Tobacco, Europe's second-largest cigarette maker, fell 3.4 percent to 2,112 pence. Tate & Lyle, the maker of the biggest-selling U.S. no-calorie sweetener, lost 2.9 percent to 471 pence.
