Joint Venture Aims at Tobacco Harm Reduction

The China Academy of Sciences' Kunming Institute of Botany and Dabaihui Technologies Co. Ltd. have signed an agreement making way for the joint establishment of laboratories for developing tobacco harm reduction technologies, according to a Tobacco China Online report. Dabaihui Technologies, which is based in Shenzhen City, Guangdong, is said to be mainly engaged in the research and development of biotechnologies aimed at reducing the harmful substances in cigarettes. It has patented a process for producing a liquid known as Shennong, which is said to be used for tobacco harm reduction, and was involved in the creation of Wuyeshen cigarettes, which are said to comprise China's first brand that uses biotechnology to reduce harm.
