Six Clerks Charged with Selling Tobacco to Minors

Mooresville police have charged sales clerks at six convenience stores with selling tobacco to minors, following a series of complaints by a concerned parent. After the parent said a child and several friends had been able to buy tobacco with relative ease locally, police conducted an undercover investigation of 16 local stores. During the investigation, a minor was able to purchase tobacco at six stores, police said, with none of the clerks asking for an ID. All six clerks were cited for selling tobacco to a minor. The stores involved were: Quick Fare Exxon, 404 S. Main St.; Kangaroo #172, 354 s. Main St.; BP gas station, 489 E. Plaza Dr.; Petro Express Citgo, 200 E.
