Siemens, Shanghai Tobacco Group Sign Pact on MES

Siemens Factory Automation Engineering Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Tobacco Group signed in Shanghai City on March 20 an agreement on Siemens' supply and installation of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for Shanghai Tobacco Group, in what appears to be the result of a biggest order taken by Siemens in China since its start of the MES business in the country. The SIMATICIT software supplied by Siemens under the agreement is in conformity to the ISAS95 international standards, with a rational structure, with advanced technologies and with an open platform. There are already many precedents of successful application of the SIMATICIT software at tobacco manufacturing enterprises in China. Siemens Factory Automation Engineering Co., Ltd. reportedly boasts a specialized MES engineering taskforce that is familiar with the production technology and business operation process of the tobacco industry. It is capable of providing Shanghai Tobacco Group with satisfactory solutions by closely combining the characteristics of Siemens' SIMATICIT software and its experience in cooperating with the global tobacco industry with the characteristics of China's tobacco industry. The MES project under the agreement will firstly enter into operation at Beijing Cigarette Factory - a subsidiary to Shanghai Tobacco Group. The MES project at Beijing Cigarette Factory is a major part of Shanghai Tobacco Group's project of developing digitalized factories, which will be playing a demonstrative and model role. Therefore, Siemens reportedly will do all it can to make the project a big success by strengthened leadership, meticulous organization, careful planning and high-quality and efficient operation. Siemens Factory Automation Engineering Co. Ltd. is the first joint venture that Siemens has invested in China's automation sector. Enditem
