General Tobacco, based in Mayodan, said Monday it continues to expand its domestic production lines at its new manufacturing and distribution facility. With newly installed high-speed German machinery, GT has begun production on 100s in hard packs, adding to their catalog of domestically produced products. In the coming weeks, GT expects to open new production lines for the entire U.S. manufacture of GT One, Silver, 32 Degree brand cigarettes and Vaquero Little Cigars. The company began in 2000 with its own brand of value-priced cigarettes that were produced overseas. Since moving its headquarters to Mayodan, GT has hired more than 70 employees. It is the sixth-largest tobacco company in the nation with about $300 million in annual sales. Enditem
