Jefferson County Jail Search Uncovers Marijuana, Tobacco Source from: nwanews.com THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Sunday, March 16, 2008 03/17/2008 A shakedown by guards at the Jefferson County jail turned up marijuana, tobacco, fermenting fruit juices and a number of items that could be used as weapons.
Sheriff Gerald Robinson says he is "really surprised" by the amount of contraband found inside the jail during a search Thursday. Deputies say they found a bag of marijuana inside an intercom system box, a metal spoon fashioned into a knife, medication, food, cigarette lighters and other items.
Robinson says guards also found a scale map of the jail, something someone planning to escape might want. The sheriff says his office's investigation will continue.
However, deputies say one inmate offered guards his opinion after the shakedown: "Now, this is a jail." Enditem
