Imperial Canada Talking with Stakeholders Source from: tr.itsmyiq.com Mar 11, 2008 03/12/2008 Imperial Tobacco Canada has been recognized for its social reporting program.
In a note posted on its website, the company said its innovative social reporting program had earned it a Certificate of Finalist Recognition in the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program in North America category of the 2007 International Business Awards.
"This recognition shows that a tobacco company can be socially responsible," said president and CEO, Benjamin Kemball.
Launched in the summer of 2006, Imperial's Let's Talk social reporting process was developed to create a dialogue with the company's stakeholders. 'From their expectations and also from the top-of-mind issues to Canadians, the company identified three main issues of concern: harm reduction in relation to tobacco consumption, the reduction and elimination of illicit trade and youth smoking prevention,' the company said in its note. 'Imperial Tobacco Canada has taken action and delivered on specific commitments all of which is detailed in its first social report published in May 2007.' Enditem
