General Tobacco Produces first U.S.-Made Product

The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area Mayodan's General Tobacco announced Wednesday it has begun making and distributing its first U.S.-made tobacco products at its new manufacturing facility. Using high-speed German-engineered equipment, GT produced its first run of Broncos cigarettes. It will begin producing the GT One, Silver and 32 Degree cigarettes in rapid succession. It will also be producing its Vaquero Little Cigars as more machines go into service next week. "Thanks to our team's hard work and dedication, the relocation has been a very successful endeavor and within a matter of weeks, all GT product lines will be fully operational," said J. Ronald Denman, executive vice president at General Tobacco. GT is the sixth-largest tobacco company in the nation with about $300 million in annual sales. The company began in 2000 with its own brand of value-priced cigarettes that were produced overseas. Enditem
