Tobacco Sales to Youth Decreasing in Wisconsin

Wisconsin hit an all time low in youth tobacco sales. A 2007 survey shows only 4.5% of stores selling tobacco sold to people under the age of 18. La Crosse County has an even lower percent of non-compliant stores at only 4.2%. La Crosse County health department representative, Judi Zabel, says the reason is better education for store owners. "We have teens in our Youth Against Tobacco program out there educating peers, our F.A.C.T. Fighting Against Corporate Tobacco also educating teens and adults about tobacco," says Zabel. Since 2000, Wisconsin's percentage of non-compliant stores has dropped 29%. Enditem
