China Tobacco Industry Decides Targets of Resource-saving in 2008

China tobacco industry makes efforts on establishing a resource-saving industry. Tobacco industry consumed 43.2 kilos energy per 10000 production value, reduced 21.3 percent than that of 2005. Emission of industrial sulfur dioxide and oxygen reduced 28.2 percent and 32.6 percent respectively. In order to make further progress, STMA sets up targets on resource-saving and waste reduction, that is energy consumption of cigarette industry enterprises will reduce 5 to 8 percent year-on-year; total emission of industrial sulfur dioxide and oxygen reduce 5 percent respectively. At the same time, STMA proposes requirements to resource-saving and waste reduction targets of cigarette machinery enterprises and filter tows enterprises, and that of energy and water consumption volume.
