Tobacco Sting Results in no Citations

Christopher Maher, Alice Echo-News Journal Officials with the Alice Police Department are once again praising local store operators, after an undercover sting operation failed to yield any arrests for selling alcohol and tobacco products to minors. Undercover officers and a juvenile working with the department attempted to purchase alcohol or tobacco products from 13 stores in Alice, and no illegal purchases were made. Stores involved in the sting operation included Murphy's USA, the Circle K on Main Street, the Texas Star on East Main Street, Walgreen's Pharmacy, CVS Pharmacy, Aycock, the Times Market on North Texas Boulevard, Yu Mi's Convenience Store, the Economy store on North Texas, Primos Convenience Store on North Highway 281, the Youngs Mart on North Highway 281, the Texas Star on North Highway 281 and the Food Mart on South Highway 281. All stores were found to be in compliance with state laws regarding the sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors. Enditem
