Tobacco Bust

Two men from the Burin Peninsula have been charged following a contraband tobacco seizure on the west coast. RCMP searched a vehicle yesterday on the Trans Canada Highway outside Stephenville and confiscated more than 850 cartons of loose cut tobacco and cigarettes. The tobacco seized is worth in excess of 75 thousand dollars. The accused are facing charges under the Excise Act and the Provincial Tobacco Tax Act. They'll appear in court April 15th in Stephenville. Enditem
