China's Cigarette Sales Increased

At 1,978.37 billion, China's cigarette production during January-November last year was 111.98 billion, or six per cent, higher than it was during January-November 2006, according to a Tobacco China Online report quoting Tobacco China magazine. The production of first- and second-grade cigarettes increased by 42.9 per cent and 35.5 per cent respectively year-on-year, while production of grade five cigarettes, which accounts for 31.6 per cent of the total production, decreased by 5.2 per cent. Cigarette sales, at 1,966.6 billion, were up by 95.15 billion or 5.1 per cent. At the end of November, cigarette inventories stood at 137.05 billion, up 8.50 billion from the 128.85 billion at the end of November 2006. Enditem
