Tobacco Sting Busts Three Wichita Businesses Save Email Print Source from: Jan 18, 2008 kake.com news@kake.com 01/21/2008 Wichita police used underage teens to conduct a sting operation targeting businesses that sell cigarettes and drug paraphernalia to minors.
The sting was conducted in the Patrol North section of Wichita, involving community police and SCAT officers. A special agent from Alcohol and Beverage Control also took part in the operation.
Police issued tickets to B&B Liquor and Tobacco at 13th and Minnesota and Central Smoke Shop at 2718 E. Central for selling tobacco products to under age persons.
Both businesses were also cited and fined because they did not have a license to sell tobacco products.
U.S. Gas and Grocery was issued a citation for selling single cigarettes inside the store. All three businesses also were cited by ABC for selling tobacco products to underage persons.
In all, 11 businesses in the Patrol North area were checked for compliance. Enditem
