General Tobacco Main Office Completes Move to N.C.

General Tobacco said yesterday that it has completed the move of its headquarters from Miami to Mayodan. The company invested $55 million in a former Unifi Inc. plant off South Ayersville Road in Mayodan. General Tobacco, which was founded in 1997, is the sixth-largest tobacco manufacturer in the United States, with about $300 million in annual sales. It is a subsidiary of privately held Vibo Corp. The company said it plans to create 200 tobacco-manufacturing jobs over five years as it shifts production from South America.
