Tobacco Compliance Check Nets one Nusiness Source from: willistonherald.com By the Williston Herald January 16, 2008 01/17/2008 One business failed a tobacco compliance check Monday that was conducted through the Williston Police Department.
During the checks, police officers directed an underage youth to enter a business that sells tobacco products within the city of Williston and attempt to purchase a tobacco product.
As a result of 16 some businesses checked, Julie Crissler, an employee at the Kum & Go Store, was charged with selling tobacco products to a minor, a Class B misdemeanor.
Businesses where tobacco is sold to those under 18 also face administrative action for the violation.
For a first offense, a mandatory $100 administrative fee is assessed to the tobacco sales license holder under whom the sale took place. Management shall undergo training at business' expense regarding sales to minors which training shall be specified.
For a second within 12 months, a mandatory one-day suspension of authority to sell tobacco, and a mandatory $150 administrative fee.
For a third offense within 12 months, a minimum of a seven-day suspension of authority to sell tobacco, and a $250 administrative fee.
For a fourth offense within 12 months, a minimum of 30 days of suspension of authority to sell tobacco and a $250 administrative fee. Enditem
