Protocol will Ease Passage of Indian Tobacco to China

A protocol that is expected to be signed during the current visit of the Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, to China should prelude the end of India's tobacco export drought to China, according to a report by G. Srinivasan for The Hindu. The protocol, on phytosanitary norms, should pave the way for the resumption of India's exports of tobacco to China, which were suspended about 12 years ago, apparently following the discovery of an objectionable pathogen in a consignment.
