Nigeria Seeks $44 Billion From Tobacco Firms

Nigeria's government is suing three tobacco companies for $44 billion for allegedly putting unacceptable pressure on the country's health services, according to a report by Andrew Walker for the BBC. The suit alleges also that the companies are targeting young people in an attempt to replace former smokers in Europe and the US. The report names the defendants as British American Tobacco, Philip Morris and International Tobacco, which deny the allegations and say they are socially responsible companies that do not target children.
