Hoist with Her Own Petard Source from: tr.itsmyiq.com Jan 7, 2008 01/08/2008 The architect of England's public-places smoking ban has been driven from her Commons office because of the smoke created by smokers puffing away outside her window, according to an Evening Standard report.
Following the introduction of the ban, the parliamentary authorities created one of a number of designated smoking areas outside the ground-floor office of Caroline Flint, minister for public health.
Flint was quoted as saying that she was forced to move out because the smell of smoke was so overpowering. And her husband and office manager, Phil Cole, was said to have told The Mail on Sunday, "There was some kind of ventilation system that we could not close off, so even with the windows closed the smoke kept coming in."
Flint has requested a new office and, in the meantime, is operating from her constituency and her offices in Whitehall.
A spokesman for the Commons authorities said: "We are aware of the situation and are trying to resolve it". Enditem
