Diamond View & American Tobacco North Source from: Triangle Business Journal - by Amanda Jones Hoyle Friday, January 4, 2008 01/08/2008 The landscape around Durham Bulls Athletic Park will continue to change this year with the completion of the second phase of the American Tobacco project across the street and the Diamond View II office building overlooking the baseball stadium.
The projects represent a continuation of revitalization efforts that started more than a decade ago with the construction of the DBAP and the first phase of redevelopment of six former American Tobacco warehouse buildings. The renovated American Tobacco campus opened in 2004 with a mix of office and retail space and a man-made river circulating through the center of the property.
Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse of Baltimore in 2005 acquired the four historical buildings of American Tobacco's second phase and will finish construction on its third and fourth buildings on the north side of the campus at a cost of $52 million in the first quarter of 2008.
The Noell Building will have 13 apartment units - the first residential units to open on the American Tobacco campus - and 15,000 square feet of commercial space. The Old Bull Building will have 57 apartment units and 28,000 square feet of commercial space. The architects for the projects are W Architecture of New York and FMK Architects of Charlotte. Struever Bros. was the construction manager. Enditem
