RPF Confiscates Tobacco Products

Continuing its drive against consumption and selling of tobacco products, activists of the proscribed outfit RPF confiscated a large quantity of Zarda, Khaini, Talab, Mithamana, etc from various part of Singjamei area and later set them on fire. Four shops which were selling these tobacco products have also been closed down for three months. Moreover, the outfit has asked two persons of one of four shops, who escaped from the custody of the outfit to surrender within five days. The confiscated tobacco products were set on fire in front of the public somewhere in Imphal West District later during the day. Talking to mediapersons, a spokesperson of the department of communication and publicity of the outfit said that the tobacco products estimated to be around Rs 1 lakh in monetary value were confiscated from the four shops during a drive launched in Singjamei. He identified the shop-owners located at Singjamei Parking and Singjamei Market as Koijam Anguri alias Binoy (27) s/o Koijam Indrajit of Singjamei Makha Oinam Thingel, Chongtham Ibohal alias Gyanendro (35) s/o Chongtham Noyonsana Devi of Chingamathak Chongtham Leikai, Athokpam Surjit of Singjamei Thongam Leikai, his elder brother Soba and Achom Chaoba of Chingamathak. While directing Surjit and his elder brother Soba, who escaped from the custody of the outfit, to surrender within five days, the spokesperson informed that rest of the other shop owners would be released after giving proper advice against selling the tobacco products in future.
