Training for Owners, Employees Serving Liquor And Tobacco

Two Beverage Server training Sessions will be offered November 28, at the Savanna City Hall council chambers, 101 Main Street Savanna. The sessions are designed for alcohol servers, cashiers, managers, and liquor and tobacco licensed establishment owners and are offered at no cost. The public is also invited to attend. Both sessions are identical. Employers can choose to come and send their employees to either of the two sessions or split their employees between the two sessions. The first session is from 10 a.m.-noon and the second session of from 1­3 p.m. This alcohol server awareness program will include an Operation Straight ID presentation by the Secretary of State's Office. Deadline to register is November 26. To reserve a spot in the program, contact Freddie Preston at the Mount Carroll office of Sinnissippi Centers at 815-244-1376. Those registering should be prepared to provide the business name, the number and names of those attending, and the number of those attending each session. "Research shows that most drivers arrested for DUI had their last drink at a bar or restaurant, and that following implementation of such training, communities see a drop in the number of persons with presumed blood alcohol levels above the legal limit," according to Freddie Preston who is the West Carroll Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Site Coordinator. The Beverage Server training program is funded in whole or part by The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJDDP), the Illinois Department of Human Services, the Illinois Secretary o State, and Sinnissippi Centers.
