China Approves Joint Venture in North Korea Source from: tr.itsmyiq.com Nov 19, 2007 11/20/2007 China's State Tobacco Monopoly Administration has approved a project under which Jilin Tobacco Industry Co. Ltd. (JTICL) will establish the joint venture, Pyongyang White Mountain Tobacco Co. Ltd. (PWMTCL), in North Korea, according to a Tobacco China Online report.
Jilin province borders North Korea and, since 2000, JTICL has established in that country the joint ventures, Taedong River Tobacco Co. Ltd. and Nason Shinhung Tobacco Co.
The establishment of the PWMTCL joint venture is seen as creating another platform for overseas operations by JTICL, whose output of cigarettes outside China is this year expected to reach two billion. Enditem
