Provincial Tobacco Industry Gets Good Report Card for January-September Source from: Oriental Tobacco newspaper 11/07/2007 The tobacco industry of southwest China's tobacco-producing Guizhou Province registered sustainable, coordinated and relatively rapid growth in both cigarette production and marketing in the first nine months of 2007, with both the sales income and amount of profits higher than the national average, paving the way for meeting all the production and marketing targets set for the whole of 2007.
COORDINATED GROWTH OF PRODUCTION AND MARKETING
From January to September, the tobacco industry of Guizhou produced 85.82 billion cigarettes (1.7164 million cases), an increase of 6.26 percent year-on-year, and sold 84.915 billion cigarettes (1.6983 million cases) under cigarette sales quotas issued by the State, up 7.39 percent year-on-year. At the end of September, the cigarette inventories held by the provincial tobacco industry decreased by 715 million cigarettes (14,300 cases).
CONTINUED GROWTH OF OUTPUT VALUE AND SALES INCOME
In the first nine months, the tobacco industry of Guizhou generated 10.572 billion yuan (1.4 billion U.S. dollars) in output value from cigarette production, up 16.35 percent year-on-year, and earned 10.476 billion yuan (1.38 billion U.S. dollars) in sales income from cigarette sales under quotas issued the State, up 17.29 percent year-on-year.
OBVIOUS GROWTH OF SINGLE-CASE SALES INCOME
In the nine-month period, the tobacco industry of Guizhou registered a 520.72-yuan (68.5-U.S.-dollar) growth in single-case cigarette sales income year-on-year, and an 18.27-percent year-on-year growth in the sales volume of Grades One, Two and Three cigarettes.
SHARP GROWTH OF BIG COMPETITIVE CIGARETTE BRANDS
From January to September, the tobacco industry of Guizhou sold 59.715 billion Huangguoshu (The Orange Tree) brand cigarettes (1.1943 million cases), up 23.53 percent year-on-year, and 1.025 billion Guiyan (Guizhou Tobacco) brand cigarettes (20,500 cases), up 195.19 percent year-on-year.
SHAPR INCREASE OF ECONOMIC EFFICIENCY
Also in the nine-month period, the tobacco industry of Guizhou registered a 23.38-percent year-on-year increase of taxes and profits, with the amount of taxes generated going up 21.02 percent year-on-year, and with the amount of profits earned going up 33.22 percent year-on-year. Enditem
