Kingdom of Tobacco Receives big Orders for Cigarettes

The tobacco industry of southwest China's Yunnan Province - the largest tobacco-producing region known as the kingdom of tobacco in China - has received big orders for cigarettes of all the five grades for delivery in the second half of 2008, according to data released at the biannual provincial cigarette trade fair for the second half of 2008 held recently by Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration in the city of Tengchong. In total, the tobacco manufacturing enterprises in Yunnan have signed contracts with the commercial sector of the provincial tobacco industry for the supply of cigarettes to the tune of 678,840 cases (33.942 billion cigarettes) in the second half of 2008 - 2.12673 billion Grade One cigarettes (42,534.6 cases), accounting for 6.3 percent of the total; 4.34455 billion Grade Two cigarettes (86,891 cases), 12.8 percent; 11.32485 billion Grade Three cigarettes (226,497 cases), 33.4 percent; 6.71085 billion Grade Four cigarettes (134,217 cases), 19.8 percent; and 9.435 billion Grade Five cigarettes (188,700 cases), 27.8 percent. It was reported that the commercial enterprises of the provincial tobacco industry have signed contracts with Hongyun Group - the second largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer - for the supply of 13.98225 billion cigarettes (279,645 cases) in the second half of 2008, accounting for 41.2 percent of the total; contracts with Hongta Group - the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer - for the supply of 8.77173 billion cigarettes (175,434.6 cases), 25.8 percent; and contracts with Honghe General Cigarette Factory for the supply of 11.188 billion cigarettes (223,760 cases), 33 percent.
