$1.2 Million Worth Of Raw Tobacco Stolen In Brampton

Cigarettes are often targeted during thefts of convenience stores, but it's not often you hear about a heist of raw tobacco. But that's what police are dealing with after a sophisticated plan that saw a legitimate trucking company pick up four containers of the raw material from a CN Rail Yard in Brampton. The containers were then taken to a trucking yard on Walker Drive and the suspects removed three of the containers on October 19th. Investigators were able to stop the theft of the last load. The tobacco alone, which was the property of Rothmans, Benson & Hedges, was worth a total of $1,200,000, while the containers were valued at $180,000. If you have an information about the thefts, contact the Peel Regional Police Commercial Auto Crime Bureau at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3313, or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Enditem
