Ohio, Kroger Sign Tobacco Agreement

Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann has joined attorneys general of 41 states and Guam in an agreement with Kroger Co., in which Kroger will implement youth prevention tobacco retailing practices in its company-owned stores. Kroger will also provide annual notices in its franchise outlets of the importance of complying with youth access laws and require franchisees to report violations and modify franchise agreements to state that violations of youth access laws could constitute grounds for termination or nonrenewal.
