Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration Allocates Funds for Establishing Tobacco-Breeding Base Source from: Oriental Tobacco 10/23/2007 Henan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration - the regulator of the tobacco industry in central China's Henan Province - has recently allocated a special line of funds for the establishment of an exclusive tobacco-breeding base in Sanya City in south China's Hainan Province, to take advantage of the two-crops-a-year favorable climate conditions in Hainan.
According to Henan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration, the establishment of the exclusive tobacco-breeding base in Hainan is intended to realize breeding of an additional generation and shorten the cycle of breeding, in order to develop new tobacco varieties that will suit the soil conditions in Henan, that will be of the quality characteristics of highly aromatic tobacco, that will be highly resistible to plant diseases and that will be capable of generating stable yields, and further improve the quality of leaf tobacco produced in Henan.
