KT&G Reports Increased Earnings for Third Quarter

KT&G reported third quarter earnings up by 3.3 per cent to Won198.5 billion on those of the third quarter of last year, according to a report by Park Hyong-ki for the Korea Times. The rise in earnings was said to be due to increased sales of high-priced cigarettes. The company's sales rose by 0.6 per cent to Won634 billion and its operating profit increased by 2.7 per cent to Won233 billion. Sales for the nine months to the end of September were up by 7.3 per cent to Won1.79 trillion on those of the first nine months of last year, operating profit was up by 15.8 per cent to Won628.6 billion and net profit rose by 18.4 per cent to Won526.2 billion.
