Three Montville Stores Cited for Sale of Tobacco to Minor

Three local stores violated state law prohibiting sale of tobacco to minors in a recent a sting conducted by Montville police and state officials, police said. On Oct. 9, Montville police and staff from the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program made unannounced inspections to 16 establishments. An underage youth entered the stores and attempted to purchase tobacco products. Sale of tobacco is prohibited to anyone under the age of 18. Clerks at the following stores were issued a $250 infraction: 7 Eleven, 2178 Route 32, Uncasville; Rite Aide, 601 Route 32, Uncasville; and Radgowski Deli Mart, 303 Route 163, Montville. The cigarette dealer license at each establishment faces additional sanctions from the Department of Revenue Services, the state agency that issues cigarette dealer licenses.
